I did a search and was not able to find anything about this. Sorry if its been covered already My sister in law recently complained about having some abdominal pain. My wife took her to local clinic near her village in a town call Phan khon. They did an ultrasound and found some growths on/in her uterus. The so called dr prescribed some antbiotics and told that if it does not work that she could return for surgery. I know i know. It sounds absurd but there it is.

What i was hoping to ask you gents is, what if any hosp around either Sakhon Nakhon or Udon Thani might be good to have her go to to get checked by a proper OBGYN? The village is roughly halfway between either places. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

I am based in Phang Khon and I would suggest your SIL to go to Ruksakon Hospital in Sakon Nalhon. I think it is the only private hospital in SK and I have been their a few times for my boy. The clinics in Phang Khon are rubbish but their is one clinic near the traffic light (50 meters) on the way to Warit which is more expensive however the Dr takes at least 10 - 15 minutes for each patient and he is very good.

I can personally recommend the Wattana Hospital in Udon.

I have already had bladder stones removed, and will have the majority of my prostate removed next week.

It is very expensive (1st mentioned) and would not recommend at all. Can't say why owing to defamation laws.

Don't know how far Khon Kaen is from where you live but the University Hospital there is great and with you wife being Thai the costs will be negligible. It is also very well equipped.

I had cataract surgery 3 days ago at AEK Udon. Excellent and not at all expensive.

Have used Wattanna hospital in Udon Thani for a couple of minor issues . Had no problems there...............very reasonable costs.

A Regional facility? That has specialist and all that? Would that be one of the ones being recommended Or is one of the the private hospitals the way to go?

There IS a large Govt hospital in Udon Thani...................but expect long waits. Many people from Laos travel to Udon to use the hospital facilities.

Wattana hospital is a private hospital.............with a vast array of specialist services. My Thai GF's mother had a stay there not long ago...........well looked after, she now takes her mom

direct to the specialists own clinic for follow up treatment.

There is also a Bangkok hospital and AEK hospital ( never used either of these).

Udon Thani Hospital is a regional facility and would be my recommendation. There will be waits and red tape but she will eventually get what she needs.

Perhaps most importantly, no risk of unnecessary surgery, which there is at private hospitals. If what she has is fibroids, surgery is not always necessary, especially if she is anywhere near menopause age.

In 2009 I had a Heart attack in Udon, admitted to Aek Udon Hospital, spent 2 days in ICU then 3 days in private room, they saved my life, was treated to the highest level of care and could not have asked for more - staff were great and so was the food etc, only thing was every morning about 09.00hrs the Royal Thai Air force would commence bombing runs across the back of the hospital in pairs of jets (actually was quite good to watch the display each morning) I did not have to pay the bill as I was insured I just signed it off on leaving

A little off topic I know but looking for a sensible answer.

Hoping some one can provide information in relation to the release of medical records. I have heard that this cannot occur unless authorisation to do so is given by the patient. If someone releases a patient's medical records, say from one hospital to another without written authority, has any law been broken, and if so, to whom does someone report the matter to. Hoping someone is able to clarify this matter. Thanks in advance

I had a motorbike accident in January last year and broke my right wrist and a finger left badly,

both bones needed a general anesthesia operation and some Kirschner wires placed.

Not having much money was a factor, so the local Amphoe Hospital Ambulance brought me into the big Government hospital in Udon Thani.

Without insurance, I never could have paid what AEK Udon or Udon Bangkok Hospital would have cost.

I paid only a fraction of that in the Government facility.

I had surgery only a few hours after I was brought there and stayed for 4 or 5 days.

As I was a paying patient not one with the 30 Baht scheme for resident Thai people,

who get nearly all for free - in the same province they are registered,

I was, I think a bit better-taken care off, less waiting times ect.

I believe, I was the only Falang patient at that time, never saw another one,

but I was satisfied with all my treatment.
