This is completely last minute, but posting this question will give me some peace of mind.

I'm a Thai-US dual citizen that entered Thailand on my US PP and got the one year and multiple reentry visa. I'm going to Vietnam and realized that entry into HCMC on a US PP requires a visa obtained in advance. Since it's too late to get a Vietnam visa for US PP, here's my question:

Can I leave Thailand on my Thai PP > Enter Vietnam on Thai PP > Exit Vietnam on Thai PP > and Reenter Thailand on Thai PP ?

The complication as I see it is that I entered Thailand three months ago (weekend in HK) on a US PP. Sorry if the answer is embedded in the forum. I'm flying out tomorrow morning. Thanks so much in advance.

Seems better to exit thailand on your US passport, enter Vietnam on the Thai passport (ASEAN member) and then reenter Thailand on your Thai passport.

Otherwise you will be fined overstay next time you use your US passport in thailand.

I would think the same ... why did you bother getting a visa on your US passport? I mean - wouldn't it have been better just to use your Thai passport? No paperwork at all - no visas, no poblem! Mai khao jai khrap!

I tried coming in from Singapore to use my Thai PP to entry and was denied entry since I left with my US PP. THis was about a year ago. So I had to reuse my US PP and just got a one year visa. AFter reading the forum I realized that I should have pushed to have my Thai PP stamped on reentry. I'm definitely going to do that this time.

so did the vietnamese let you in? I'd assume so. Done it many times.

On the way back though, make sure you re-enter on the Thai PP though!!!
