Renewing my retirement visa in Savannakhet

Featured Replies

Hi, my retirement visa expires next week, August 19.

I've explored the "paid options" but my friend says you can renew it legally in Savannaket without having to show income or any bank statements.

Another Aussie mate said he'd renewed his marriage visa there without showing proof of income etc but he doesn't know about retirement visas.

Does anyone have experience of renewing a retirement visa in Savannaket - and could you tell me what I'd need to take with me and what the cost is?

thanks

You have been misinformed.

"Retirement visas" are not available in Savannakhet.

The best you can hope for is a single entry non O visa from Penang or Vientiane but you would need to be able to demonstrate a monthly income of 65,000 Bht verified by your Embassy or 800,000 Bht in a Thai bank. A combination of money in the bank combined with a monthly income totaling 800,000 is also an option.

Sorry.

thanks, well worth knowing before I made the trip. Strange, though, that they allow renewal of marriage visas without any proof of income but not retirement visas - hmm never mind

back to Plan A :)

If you meet the income requirements, just go to your local immigration office and apply for a one year extension based on retirement.
