PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – Defense Minister Tea Banh met Malaysia’s army chief, Raja Mohamed Affandi bin Raja Mohamed Noor, yesterday to discuss ways to improve military ties between the two countries.

The meeting follows last week’s Association of Southeast Nations summit in Malaysia, during which member nations clashed over how to handle territorial disputes in the South China Sea. Malaysia called for a forceful, unified front against China, but disagreements over the language of a joint communiqué addressing the issue divided the group.

Defense Ministry representative Veng Sokheng said after the meeting yesterday the South China Sea issue was not discussed.

In contrast the Junta has its 2014 security agreement with China and agreed to promote the Chinese claim to the China Sea resources with ASEAN countries.

This military alignment between Malaysia and Cambodia puts Thailand in direct conflict with the ASEAN countries. Thailand has become a FOREIGN AGENT of China.

Prayut has committed a major political faux pas in his rush to secure Chinese backing for his coup-government. He leaves Thailand with no political options other than repudiation of Thailand's security agreement with China by a NEW GOVERNMENT.

And the cracks in the ASEAN Community begin.
