a dermatologist you recomment in Pattaya

As most of us know, a fancy hospital or spanking new clinic does not mean the first doctor or specialist you meet will be an authority of what you are looking for. I will ask the Thai visa Pattaya members if they have any experience in recommending a dermatalogist for treating older skin (not zits on a teenager). I was one of those blond hair- blue eye fair skin farangs that would be in the sun 24-7 when young and then the past 20 years I have lived in the Middle East and tropics that has sunny days. So now I have flaky skin on my forehead which I thought would disappear but it has not. (I no longer expose myself to the sun so it is not from sunburn.) It is not skin cancer according to the research I have done. I need to go to a local dermatologist that can seriously diagnose what is the best treatment for fair skin people, not Asian skin or what he read in his medical text book.

Bangko Pattaya has a dermatology clinic at the back. Took my partner there for a fungoid skin condition, took 3 visits but her problem eventually cleared up. It's not cheap though, averaged out around 3000 baht a visit, including medication.

I have used Dr Warapon at the Pattaya international Hospital Soi 4 Beach Road for many years in the treatment of my active keratosis and other skin related conditions, she is a professional Dermatologist with a huge amount of experience. I have found PIH Dermatology dept. much cheaper than B.H.

One of the best in Pattaya is Dr Anna Jaruwarn at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital.

Spaniel ---& others are correct------Dr Anna, she practised at Stanford for years, to give you an idea of how she is streets ahead of anyone else in that town.(Pattaya)

Pattaya hospital isn't a place I would usually recommend ---however I would have no hesitation recommending her, I was told by another doctor that she would still be at Stanford, but her husband. (an urologist) could not find a suitable position in America.

& of course her English is perfect---

Bio

MD.(HONS), Chulalongkorn University, Institute of Dermatology, Bangkok,

Department of Dermatology, Stanford Medical Center, Stanford, CA

- Diplomate, American Board of Dermatology

- Fellow of American Academy of Dermatology

Thanks for all of you that took time out to make recommendations. It is more of a secure feeling to go to someone that has a good report and reputation than with a doctor that lacks people skills or up-to-date professional knowledge beyond a medical school text book.

I am looking also for an Dermatologist as i have an suspicionof Skin Canver but i want stay away from Bangkok Pattaya Hospital as my Insurance pay every Hospital in or Around Pattaya but refuse BPH because their of excessive Costs compare to other Hospitals.

As i learned the Doctors work sometimes in two or more Different Hospitals, someon know that this highly recommend Dr. Anna work somewhere else too?

I found some good Tips here already, may i try the Pattaya International first , or someone has an Visit lately somewhere?

tangerinehouse----what you may have--Its not a small thing, I would pay yourself & go and see Dr Anna.....if its confirmed then maybe you need to take your treatment elsewhere. But get you diagnoses and options , and there may be many different ones, explained to you first from the best.

Thank you OXO 1947, may i will do so. And visit there for diagnosis. I heard from someone that they charged Foreigners double the Price from Thais, you know something about that..?

No...I have had Thai friends who have had treatment there----they are just an expensive hospital---& your right it drives up the insurance rates, & also in a lot of cases there are doctors around every bit as good as you will get there. Dr Anna is probably an exception to that in this field.

+1 for the recommendation to see Dr.Anna, regardless the price. She specializes in skin cancers and according to recommendations in the Health & Medicine forum section is the best in Thailand. She lived in and had a clinic in the USA, and her English is excellent.

I had a small cancerous spot removed from my forearm and was 100% satisfied with her service.

I don't know what Dr. Anna charges Thais' but I had an appointment with her on Tuesday, 26 July, for a skin cancer check up and was charged B 1,500.
