I have only just joined this forum and not fully read this section about visas .... To save me time ca anyone advice me about what is best for my trip to Thailand next week. I am a UK passport holder and plan to come and visit Thailand for 86 days. What is the best type of visa for me as I was planning half way through my visit to Thailand to have a weekend in Malaysia. I was planning to visit the Thai Consulate here to get a tourist visa as I think I should be able to get a 60 day tourist visa is this correct. Then on the 60 th day go to Malaysia and a few days later return to Thailand and get a 30 day tourist visa at the airport. Am I correct in my assumptions or is there a better alternative?

A tourist visa allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

There is no need for the trip to Malaysia to get the extra 30 days.

I am glad I have grasped what's needed..... Good news that I can get a 30 day extension while in Thailand. I am staying in Hat Yai in the south do you know where I can find a list of immigration office addresses

When is your flight is it booked, remember you still need to actually get the tourist visa yet do you have enough time ?

My flight is booked on the 30 August .... The Thai Consulate state it only takes 1 hour to issue the visa so I am going there early next week. The visa form looks very simple and I don't see there being any problems.

I can't wait to get to Thailand as I have been to most countries in Asia and want to see if Thailand is the best place fir me to relocate to and live. I am fortunate that I have my own ppersonal pension and was able to retire young.

If you are applying in person then obviously it won't be a problem, many people myself included use/used the postal application service which takes longer.

Enjoy your trip and stay safe.
