PM expresses gratitude to officials responding to bomb incident, urges vigilance

BANGKOK, 18 August 2015 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his gratitude to all officials who have responded to the destructive bombing of the Erawan Shrine as well as stating his concern for Bangkok residents and tourists.

The Secretary-General to the Prime Minister’s Office conveyed the Prime Minister’s words to the public, after today’s Cabinet meeting which mainly discussed Monday's incident.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and has instructed related officials to ensure the safety of all Thais and foreign tourists. He said that the authorities are expediting their detailed investigative efforts to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The Cabinet has instructed the authorities to monitor safety at various tourist attractions, embassies and prominent landmarks. The Ministers of Tourism and Sports, Heath and the Interior have been visiting the injured in hospitals while Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has established a special task force to monitor the situation.

Well at least he shows concern and is doing the political thing by his announcements. Let's hope this terrorism doesn't continue or spread as it will surely effect Thai tourism and economy which in turn will hurt more than just the current gov. Let's also hope this incident is not used as another excuse to remain in power longer than is needed democratically.

The military wont be letting go of power for a very long time. There will be excuse after excuse after promise and then announcements that he has been requested to stay in power, by his cohorts, for the good of the country.

Welcome to South East China or South North Korea.

What is it about Asian countries, military control, corruption and the majority of people who suffer most just sitting back and accepting the constant manipulation.

From what I have read here , emergency services & "responding officials " were quite slow . 15 minutes or more , while the police station & hospital are just across the road. Yeah ...sure the traffic....
