DPM: Article 44 sufficient for orderliness maintaining in wake of bombs

BANGKOK, 19 August 2015 (NNT) – The Deputy Prime Minister has pointed the use of Article 44 is sufficient for maintaining orderliness, and says that it remains inconclusive whether the bombs can be related to political matters.

The Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam has expressed his confidence that it is unnecessary for the authorities to issue any extra measures in wake of the bombing incidents in Bangkok, as the current enforcement measures, such as Article 44, are sufficient.

He has said that the enforcement of measures could be tightened more if the responsible persons or group have been identified. The situation's escalation could also intensify enforcement measures, or if the complexity behind this incident have been revealed.

The Deputy Prime Minister has the public should not view this incident as a movement that defies the military government, as there are many other reasons that could be behind this act, whether be it from agitators, politics, or those who wish to sabotage the orderliness and the economy.

Regarding whether the location the bomb at Ratchaprasong Intersection can be considered as politically symbolic, the DPM has said that the issue remains unclear. He pointed out that Ratchaprasong draws a large number of people daily, a similar trait to all areas deemed "risk" areas.

Good move, not playing into the hands of those who want Martial Law back again.

Since Art.44 gives him more powers than God Almighty I should hope it's "sufficient"!

I hate to say it, as the guy is the DPM for the Junta, but his statements seem to be among the more reasonable ones to come out from high officials in the past 24 hours.

"the public should not view this incident as a movement that defies the military government"

Who else would it defy?

What more powers could he get? Flight, invisibility, teleportation?

The ability to fix their economy?

"the public should not view this incident as a movement that defies the military government"

Who else would it defy?

Common sense, respect for life, respect for law, etc., etc.

Do they really believe they can maintain order as they say. If someone dared to do the same again tomorrow, they would be chasing their tails again. They portray omnipotence, but really?

Good move, not playing into the hands of those who want Martial Law back again.

Martial law is far weaker than Article 44 as it still provides some modicum for due process of law.

A44 is part of the constitution and offers process of law and by law more so than Martial Law. As such there's not much difference.

Beep me up Prutty .....

Article 44 seems a bit overrated has it been used or just the threat of it. Did it sort the lottery price or the issues with unlicensed fishing boats.
