BANGKOK: -- The Philippine government on Wednesday raised Alert Level 1, or Precautionary Phase, over Thailand in view of the bomb blast incident that occurred near the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok last August 17 that took the lives of scores of people many of whom foreign tourists, Manila Bulletin reported.

Alert Level 1 is issued when there are valid signs of internal disturbance, instability, and external threat to the host country.

Filipinos are alerted to take necessary precautions.

In its advisory, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) identified at least 10 places in Thailand, as specified by local police authorities, which Filipinos should avoid.

They include Ratchaprasong intersection; Pratumwan intersection; Silom road; Khao San road; Narathiwat intersection; Victory Monument; Tuk Chai intersection; Benjasiri Park; Soi Thong Lor; and Sukhumvit Road.

According to the DFA, the Philippine Embassy is ready to extend assistance, if necessary, to the estimated 15,000 Filipinos in Thailand.
