Thailand & Japan discuss industrial waste management

BANGKOK, 20 August 2015 (NNT) – Japan’s State Minister of the Environment Yasuhiro Ozato has met with Industry Minister Chakramon Phasukavanich to discuss waste management for Thai industrial estates.

Japan has agreed to give Thailand an eco-friendly waste incinerator developed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). This technology can dispose of up to 500 tons of waste per day.

Construction of the incinerator is expected to begin next year. The incinerator is cost-effective for industries that discharge more than 60 tons of waste per day.

Tokyo has sent a team of experts to study the suitability of the proposed locations for industrial estates. The Ministry of Industry reportedly favors the Rayong Industrial Estate and Samut Sakhon Industrial Estate.
