August 28, 201510 yr I recently lost a phone, 3 weeks ago, reported it lost and got a new sim card and phone. Yesterday, AVG emailed a pic of someone trying to open the password, and also info that a new sim card was installed. Calling AIS I told them that I had the serial number of the new sim card, and knowing that all sims have to be registered, asked if they could help. I was advised that they would need a request from the police. Also they had no previous instances of this issue. I will go to the police, I believe if it was stolen they might be interested, but as I lost it probably not. Anyway I will offer to pay them if they can follow up, more for the experience than any great concern in recovering the phone.
August 29, 201510 yr Uninstalled it a couple of days after installing it because I noticed my xperia phone was acting up.
August 29, 201510 yr Author Been to police, they are very interested, and have undertaken to get the current user details. I said I only wanted to call the guy and offer a no questions asked reward, but they seem to think there are other issues.
August 29, 201510 yr Well good if they can follow up on this, it may be useful to those who has had their mobiles stolen. Please follow up on the topic as you get more details.
August 29, 201510 yr there was a wild story about a guy whose stolen phone wound up in the hands of a Chinese gent, and they actually would up meeting. It is an amazing story. Hilarious. http://www.iphonehacks.com/2015/04/how-a-bloggers-stolen-iphone-led-him-to-a-new-best-friend-in-china.html

August 29, 201510 yr One of the boys out here on the rig had his phone linked to cloud for photos. He had it stolen while we were working in Tanzania. He checked his cloud account and lo and behold there is hundreds of photos of the room boy and his Tanzanian mates having a phat time. So he now knows who ripped off his phone. Moves are under way to see that offender is punished.
August 29, 201510 yr I have a Mcaffee app that does this on my True phone and only yesterday received a pic of myself lounging and trying to open my phone to start another music track! This AVG app sounds worth having, Edited August 29, 201510 yr by jacko45k
August 31, 201510 yr Author Not advertising but I have been "playing" with the app between my other phones and it's GOOD.(well, like the Curate's Egg, sometimes it can't find a second phone which is lying next to it) Trying now to link my ancient Nokia to the app, does not look promising, although it has received an "invite". Checked how the actual tracking is done as well, seems anyone who uses it can never delete the ability, Looks for MAC, GPS and Cell Towers, to track it, while it is on of course. Up to now my lost phone has not been turned on each time I tried to locate it. The Police Captain insists on a personal investigation, is going, against my wishes, to the place I lost it, (a school), with the picture of the guy. We only need his info from AIS. BTW she is quite a fox !

October 2, 201510 yr Author Recently was given a letter by the police to take to AIS. AIS say they will refer it to their law department and then contact the police....about 2 weeks.
October 2, 201510 yr Not that i worry about it much in Thailand , but I am sure some wifes would like to see where hubby has been on that 2 hour "walking the dog" trip when he left the dog at home
November 28, 201510 yr Author The Police report requesting the sim card details, has now been with AIS lawyers for nearly two months now, with no results, only a promise to attend to it. I am not asking for the details, simply that they inform me when the do contact the police.
