KMITL launched 6th nanotech contest

BANGKOK, 2nd September 2015 (NNT) - King Mongkut’s Institution of Technology, Ladkrabang (KMITL), the pioneer science and technology institute in Thailand, today held the 6th prize giving ceremony in Thailand’s biggest nanotechnology innovation contest. The winners received an award of Royal Cups from Her Royal Highness, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.


The event featured innovative nanotechnological developments from more than 100 students across Thailand, for example, a sanitary paper for anti-MERS use, coffee grounds producing nano energy, a TiO2 nano dry battery, bricks of combined rubber and cement, and UV protected leather, tanned by nano technology.

Dean and Asst. Prof. Anuchit Jaruwanawat, Deputy Dean from the College of Nanotechnology, KMITL said today that the nanotechnology had been applied to various products. The contest was intended to enhance the creativity of Thai youth, and to develop nanotechnology research which could be effectively applied to the benefit of society in the future.

King visits and shops at Golden Place shop

BANGKOK: -- His Majesty the King paid a visit to the Golden Place shop in the compound of Siriraj hospital and bought several products from royally-sponsored projects late Tuesday afternoon.

The King left the 16th floor of the Chalerm Phra Kiat building in Siriraj hostal and took a short car ride to the 10th branch of Golden Place shop located on floor B of Siriraj Piyamahakaroon hospital.

Upon hearing of the King’s short journey, hospital staff, members of the public and relatives of patients took to the travelling route to greet and to express their well wishes to HM the King.

The King spent some 13 minutes in the shop, observing the products on sale and bought several fresh and dried fruits and vegetables.

Later on, he went to the 7th floor of Siriraj Piyamahakaroon hospital and spent about half an hour at the veranda of reception hall to observe the Chao Phraya river view before returning to the 16th floor of Chalerm Phra Kiat building.
