Families Ask CNRP TV to Return Donations

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – Dark clouds are looming over the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party’s (CNRP) effort to start their own TV station as a group of families have asked for their donation to be returned to them due to allegations of embezzlement.

At least 300 families from Phnom Penh, Svay Rieng, Kandal and Kampong Cham provinces who donated money to help the CNRP start their own TV station are demanding, through four separate summit petitions, the CNRP return their money. The families say the money is being mishandled and misspent by the party’s leaders.

“We request the CNRP pay back 5,350,000 riel [$1,340] that we donated to support ‘Sun TV station’,” a letter from 35 families in Kandal province said.
