Russian teenager dies after playing online computer game 'Defence of the Ancients' for 22 days in a row

SYDNEY: -- A RUSSIAN teenager has died after playing an online computer game for 22 days in a row.

The 17-year-old, who had broken his leg and was bored at home, sat playing Defence of the Ancients almost continuously, only stopping to sleep and eat.

Investigators discovered the boy, known as Rustam, had spent over 2000 hours playing the game in the past year and a half, which works out at around 6 1/2 hours a day culminating in the intensive almost non-stop sessions over the past 22 days.

Doctors believe he could have died from DVT where someone suffers a thrombosis because they are not moving around very much, like on a cramped long-haul flight.

Police spokeswoman Svetlana Abramova confirmed: “In the last 22 days there is a suspicion he played the game almost all the time, stopping only to take a nap and grab a snack.

years ago I heard about someone from Sweden who got addicted to some online game, and he started taking speed to be able to play 2-3 days cessions. I suppose he got another addiction as well.

Instead of an online computer game he should of been looking at porn , would still be alive today even if feeling a bit drained and tired after 22 days at it.

May need to do background checks on people trying to buy highspeed computers designed for gaming...a psychological profile could be developed to keep addictive people from obtaining this lethal weapon...

Only local and national police should be allowed to obtain these computer weapons...civilians can not be counted on to control themselves...

May need to sue computer manufactures for manufacturing weapons of mass destruction...

Need to look into how this will affect climate change...
