September 5, 201510 yr We had a True Docsis Internet service installed not so long ago which came with a Humax modem/router. A couple of months back I wanted to set up Parental controls and found the manual a little lite on (how unusual). Basically, when I set up a prohibited site or list of sites and then enable parental controls you can no longer access any websites. I then have to disable parental controls to get access back again. I have checked all of the parameters and it appears relatively easy but just doesn't seem to work properly. I have sent one service support request to Humax direct (in China I think) a couple of months back and have received no reply. Being an Aussie I found a supplier of Humax in Australia as well so sent a support request to them also. Same result, no response and that was a month or so ago too! Just wanted to warn those members of you off Humax as it is the worst service I have seen from any IT supplier for a long time and I would never purchase and/or have another of their product.
September 5, 201510 yr Thanks for the warning. Sadly, SO TYPICAL of companies these days. I was tempted to go on about and name a number of places that exhibit the same attitude....but I've done it ALL BEFORE and I'd only be boring our fellow contributors. Edited September 5, 201510 yr by Torrens54
September 7, 201510 yr A Chinese router company who don't care about aftersales support.... Why am I not even a little bit surprised?
September 7, 201510 yr "You bought it, it's yours" seems to be the motto of consumerism in this part of the world. If the equipment is not brand name (like Linksys) don't expect much in the way of support. In some cases if enough people buy their stuff then maybe an online community will form where users help each other out. Have you tried google? 300k + response to 'humax router' including your tv post! If you send an email to tech support and you don't hear back from them in a few days then send it again. For any company.
September 8, 201510 yr Why are you not asking your ISP who provided the router? They may be able to answer or even send someone to set up for you. As far as "name" brands do not expect any better - years ago had issues with one from the largest makers (which had no office in Thailand) and there Oz Hqs replied to email that I was not in Australia so not there responsibility.
September 8, 201510 yr Author Why are you not asking your ISP who provided the router? They may be able to answer or even send someone to set up for you. It's not a huge issue for me but I will try TRUE and see what they suggest. Thx
September 8, 201510 yr Am quite sure they will try to be helpful. Any issue I have had they have been more than willing to help (although I hate to call as have spent a lifetime having to fix problems myself).
