New rice auction draws 33 buyers to compete

BANGKOK: -- The Foreign Trade Department today invited exporters to bid for the sixth round of rice auction totalling 732,806 tons.

By noon today, 33 companies showed interest in the auction and submitted their documents for qualification examination by the department.

The rices put for auction comprises 10 types of rice, including 5% white rice, ,19% white rice, sticky rice, and jasmine rice.

The Foreign Trade Department will announce names of the bidders who are qualified to enter the sixth round of rice auction tomorrow.

You have to have paid a big brown envelope to excise to get a license.

Is this the 2 year old semi-rotten rice or last year's good crop?

As the current government no longer buy rice from farmers, I assume the rice on offer is from previous years ?
