September 9, 201510 yr I am tiling my Car Port floor, and was just wondering if there is any reason that I should not use the nice shiny ones that are 600mmx600mm? Or should I use non slip 600x600? The shiny ones are a third of the price
September 9, 201510 yr Its all a matter of personal taste.... Remember though if you get the shiny non slip tiles it will be extremely slippery when it rains ... Although the non slip may be more expensive (keep looking ...you may find a better deal elsewhere)....it may be cheaper in the long run when you consider that you may slip and break your r hip or worse yet crack your head..
September 9, 201510 yr Do you intend parking the car in the car-port? Our entertainment area is much bigger than a car-port and gets wet all over when a 'real' rainstorm happens. Luckily the tiles are reasonably non-slip, it would be lethal with the shiny ones. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
September 9, 201510 yr ^ hmm good points, but the carport has a good roof Yes......BUT....when it rains walking to/from/through the carport with footwear that are wet....you will still slip and .....your tires will spin on the slippery surface when wet after driving... But as said before by another poster...."Up to you".... Pesonally, although I have a covered carport. I went for the non-slip version as when it rains the wind blows in the rain and although drainage is not a problem for me ...its something to consider if the rain will drain across your carport. Cheaper to do it right the FIRST time.....after finding out how slippery the non-slip tiles are you WILL want to redo with non-slip Food for thought Edited September 9, 201510 yr by beachproperty
September 9, 201510 yr yeah, I'm sure there are some rough finish ( non - slip ) type tiles around at cheaper prices.
September 9, 201510 yr Non-slip will also help if ever you give the car a wash in the shade of the car port.
September 9, 201510 yr The tile is the least of your problems, just make sure that there is a pitch so that the water will run off, slick or non-slip hold the same amount of water and if left standing will eventually weaken the cement base
September 13, 201510 yr Personally, I prefer sandwash for carports and outdoor areas - it's completely non-slip, and hides a few days of dust & dirt before it needs cleaning. Using floor tiles outside, they look dirty the same day you cleaned them.
September 14, 201510 yr ^ thanks guys, non slip it is then. don't use 600x600 if you want to park cars in your carport! breakage pre-programmed no matter how well the tiles were laid.
