Bike and Concert starts today in Hua Hin

HUA HIN: -- The "Bike and Concert" event started early this morning with thousands of bicyclists coming to register to take part at the Ratchaphakdi historical park in Hua Hin district of Prachuab Khiri Khan.

Chairman of the “Bike and Concert” organising committee Air Chief Marshal Phisit Sithisarn presided over the ceremony to start the 126.6 kilometre long biking event at 9.00 am today.

Organising committee official said the Bike and Concert event drew over 3,000 people to take part.

One of the aims of the event was to raise fund to support the park and its activities.

The Ratchaphakdi historic park has been constructed solely through public donations.

The highlight of today’s event was the participation of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha who will be riding a bike to lead a bike campaign caravan for a total distance of 34 kilometres to raise more donations for the historical park.

The biking route starts from Cha-Am forest park in Phetchaburi province and ends at the Ratchaphakdi historical park, where HRH the princess will stop for a tour at there to learn about its history and to watch the concert scheduled to be held in the evening at Suan Son Pradipat beach.

Meanwhile, the public would be participating in a bike race for a total distance of 126 kilometres, starting from the Ratchaphakdi historic park, through the bypass intersection and Wat Huay Mongkol Temple, before making a u-turn on the Cha-Am bypass to head back to the historical park, which would signify the end of the race.

Yesterday Army Chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr arrived in Hua Hin for final inspections and rehearsals to welcome HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.

The army chief ensured that all preparations, including the biking route and security, are completed and the event is now ready to be initiated as planned.

Latest figure of the registrations for the bike race currently stood at over 3,000, in which the army chief has reaffirmed that everything is going according to plan.

He further noted that if the race ran into heavy downpours, it would be temporary hold off until the rain stops before continuing.

The event is said to be the biggest biking competition in the southern region and is seen as a representation of the unity of the people in their wish to see the historical park completed beautifully.

Princess Pa leads charity bike ride in Hua Hin

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 12 September 2015 (NNT) - Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha has led the charity bike ride to the finishing line at the Ratchaphakdi Park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The bike ride was part of the "Ratchaphakdi Bike and Concert for the Land" activity.

HRH on Saturday presided over the opening ceremony of the activity in the Cha-Am Forest Park in Phetchaburi province before particitipating in the 33.8-kilometer bike ride. Around 400 cyclists joined in the event.

The cyclists started from the Cha-Am Forest Park, passed the Klai Kang Won Palace in Hua Hin and ended at the Ratchaaphakdi Park. Administrative, military and police officers were among the cyclists who rode with the princess.
