NAN, 12 September 2015 (NNT) - Nan officials have reclaimed more than 1,300 rai of watershed land in Ban Song Khwae protected forest, after finding that the area has been invaded by local people.

The authorities, comprising a combined force of more than 100 strong from the military, the provincial administration and forestry office, conducted the operation on Friday after finding that more than 1,300 rai of land in afore-mentioned protected forest in Tambon Sanian, was encroached by villagers. The land was converted into corn plantations.

The land reclaiming operation went smoothly. The officials now plan to conduct reforestation and establish a career center to help the affected locals earn more income.
