Problem setting up KODI, advice appreciated

Featured Replies

Hi, just trying to setup KODI on my pc and immediately hit a problem. I am trying to 'add files source'. Online tutorials suggest 'system'→'file manager'→'add source' but this results in nothing, the 'add files source' box just does not appear.

Anyone have any ideas as to the problem?

Thanks for reading.

you will need to add your own sources for "repos" (repositories). go to tvaddons.ag and you will see tutorials how to do it.

I don't know if this helps, but when you get into file manager you have to double click the mouse.

DOH!

And there was me thinking a single click was enough.

Slightly embarrassed thanks.

Another question. After configuring PVR IPTV Simple Client, restarting and reboot, the Launch button is still greyed out. Any ideas?

I don't think you launch PVR, it's loaded with whatever Guide you are using.

But I must admit I have not looked into it in detail since I don't think there's a ton of space on the Fire Stick.

Enabling Live TV in the setting menu, and having an actual 'working' PVR Client will add a "TV" item to the KODI homescreen menu ribbon.

I'm glad it was just a simple solution for you. I had exact same problem on one of my Android stick devices, no amount of single, double or multiple clicks of Add source in file manager would bring up the Add files source input box. I gave up in end and reinstalled Kodi and then it worked.

Can I ask Do You need a VPN for UK TV ?? or does kodi cover it all.

tvaddons.ag (a third-party add-on) tends to work well here and it has many UK and European programs it can access (all without requiring special tricks).

KODI relies on their own and third-party Add-On Repositories and Apps to function. Some repositories and apps may be specific or only work for certain geographic locations. If needed, some Add-Ons will include VPN or Proxy transport functionality to enable world-wide access to material. But as with anything, expect functionality to break as difficulties in maintaining the app overcomes available resources or willingness to maintain for free.

Many of the sources used by KODI repositories and apps are already present on the Internet for other reasons, and the KODI or third-party just tap into that availability. That said, sometimes a service may not work or buffers so often and to be unusable due to network connectivity issues.

The best advice it to just try it. KODI functions on many different platforms and devices.

Note:

today free available ( no costs ) Kodi Ultimate Add-on Packages ( KUAP ) Installers for WIndows do exist for some time now ( for example KUAP v2.7.3.exe, size 813 MB ) which do work quite well ( Windows 10 included ). Additional software components will be automatically installed in here C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Kodi. As long as your Windows system has been setup and configured properly you experience no problems setting up Kodi add-ons via this method.

Thanks Guys for the help, I had managed to make some if I work I will perciviere now with the set up again as I was having issues and got bored trying to get it to work.

If you are not a Kodi genis like me and you want a fully loaded setup with all services, addons and libraries set up then I would recommend checking out kodimaster.com. I am using andy's build and it's totally awesome. I just needed to do a few tweaks like audio to run it thru my AVR, setting up the weather for Thailand, and turning off auto play in genisis and the one channel and it's done.

I have no affiliation with the site otheir than a debt of gratitude for providing me such an awesome fully loaded system

One thing I noticed when setting up my tweaks some of the changes did not take place until I rebooted the system so you may want to do a second reboot after you install the andys build or whatever build you choose.

I know if you have the time and knowledge about Kodi you can build your own setup but fir someone like me this is better than I couks ever do myself and I can tweak it as I go

Thank you for this information.

Thanks very much for all the contributions.

Ok, I have been following most of these threads but not set up anything yet as I've been away a lot with work.

As things develop very quickly, what is a good box to buy now ? Price around 2000 baht if possible.

I would like to get it set up for sport mainly but if those builds above cover everything, that might be the way.

Thanks

Live sports can be a bit hit or miss on Kodi as the demand/buffer can make it unwatchable sometimes. A Thai based pay system like iLikeHD is a safer bet for sports, unless you are prepared for some frustration.

Just looking at IlikeHD, not a bad price and can pay monthly so if its no good, easy...

Ok. This is slow progress for me. Trying to add Dextertv to a fresh Kodi install and keep on getting 'failed to install a dependency'.

Any suggestions as I'm lost from here.

Thanks for that but it didn't work.

No idea why this worked but I uninstalled 15.1 and then installed 15.0 and dextertv runs fine now.

You can run it for a couple hours for 30THB so if you if it doesn't suit you, no big loss. I keep it as back up and turn on for 2 hour sessions if Kodi is buffering too much.

Do you have evidence to back up this statement?

If not, it is just an opinion and not a fact and should be stated as such.
