AOT: Annual air traffic exceeds 100 million passengers

BANGKOK, 16 September 2015 (NNT) - Airports of Thailand (AOT) PLC has touted its overwhelming success, as all six airports under its administration have served more than 100 million passengers combined in less than a year.

The rapid growth in passenger numbers has generated 10.3 billion baht in AOT profits during the three quarters of 2015. AOT President Nitinai Sirismatthakarn expected the company's annual profits to hit a record high.

AOT operates six international airports, namely Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Chiang Rai. Don Mueang International Airport has been ranked as the world’s busiest airport by low-cost flight passengers. The airport now serves more than 22.5 million passengers per year, exceeding its capacity of 18.5 million.

Dr. Nitinai added that AOT had planned to invest 140 billion baht in airport improvements over five years and expand annual capacity to 165 million people in 2020.

only a few mishaps along the way i will not list as most of them have been widely publicised

I'd like to see the breakdown for the he 140 billion baht investment over the next 5 years. I hope its not more feeding at the trough and empty rhetoric.

"The airport now serves more than 22.5 million passengers per year, exceeding its capacity of 18.5 million."

21.6% over capacity. Could be a health and safety issue in view of the Civil Aviation standards thing...

I am sure many remember that not long ago, maybe around 2011, was it?, that DMK was possibly going to be closed and make Swampy the one and only. Just as well sanity prevailed.

Too bad they can't make an arrangement with the RTAF to relocate them.

These figures include Thai Nationals going and coming.

does not add up

500 - 800 baht per person airport tax x 100 million

and only 100 baht is profit per passenger ?

500 x 100.000.000 = 50 billion
