Japanese investors affirm business expansion in Thailand

BANGKOK, 19 September 2015 (NNT) - Japanese investors have confirmed they will continue their business and investment expansion in Thailand, but voiced their concerns over the lack of Thai skilled labor for their hi-tech industries.

Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand Shiro Sadoshima on Friday met with Minister of Industry Atchaka Sibunruang, to discuss various cooperation projects between Thailand and Japan.

Ambassador Sadoshima reaffirmed that the Japanese private sector would continue to move forward with their Thai counterparts, and that several companies already had continuing investment plans in Thailand.

He, however, was concerned about the lack of skilled workers in hi-tech industries, as well as researchers. To address the issue, Ambassador Sadoshima said Japan would utilize the service of about 40 Japanese educational institutes which have representatives in Thailand to produce supporting personnel for Japanese industries.

He stated the Japanese government will hold talks with Japanese-Thai institutions to share campuses with other universities in order to increase the number of graduates in the fields that Japanese industries demand.

Well of course they are getting huge infrastructure projects here in Thailand just look at all new BTS lines are Japanese and the new high speed rail. But the Europeans are also coming such as car maker Ranault they will be building a pickup factory here. Also aerospace industries will see Europeans and USA companies dominate.

My gf used to work for Siemens and was part of bts project. She is not a big fan of Germans but admits Siemens is a great company and makes a good product. Yes, Thais have outsourced the job to Japanese for one simple reason. Siemens was warned by German government not to partake in any bribes. Guess what Japanese are doing? Anyway, the carts have indeed been purchased from China, but Japan is now doing the project.

Load of BS the German won the bids in the beginning because the Japanese did not participate http://business.inquirer.net/150705/japan-group-to-build-new-23-km-rail-line-in-bangkok-report please stop spreading false rumors if you don't know S&*t.

What kind of false information am I spreading? Are you another illiterate Thai visa poster. I was talking about the present, not the past. The reason why Japanese won the contract is because they bribed. Some Siemens employees actually went to jail because of bribes. These are the facts.

The false info is the Japanese never bid in the old projects they just started to bid in the later projects

Sorry. You are right. They didn't participate, you are right. Because they have been instructed by German government not to partake in any bribes. There was actually a leaflet circulated among employees in Thailand about this issue. I think my gf still has it and I will scan it if I can.

You are wrong the Germans participated but it was G-to-G because Thai will finance payment with goods http://www.gtreview.com/news/asia/bids-considered-for-bangkok-rail-extension/

OK. I will admit if I'm wrong, but I can only tell you for a fact what I saw with my own eyes and it's that Siemens simply gave up due to jail times some people received in Germany due to bribes.

Than why did other Germans bid???????????????? I think they will be getting same jail time

If i remember correctly then the Thai didn't pay Siemens for the old skytrain, that ook many many years before they paid.

So it surprises me Siemens would want to come back to build the extensions.

ChinoThai and ItalThai is what i see as being the construction company's who build it. I didn't check it lately if they changed it.

But why didn't they make the drainpipes on the new bts? I saw many huge waterfalls on the main roads under them and everything looks finished underneath. Oh well guess i know the answer, they want to come back and work on busy roads to cause more trafficjam.
