maphraw
I have just successfully downloaded Skype onto my mobile phone phone and plan to call the USA with a toll free number. If it doesn't work, I'll will try a collect call with a number the company I am calling said I can use. I am just wondering, who pays for this call or is the service entirely free. Does the time I am on my phone with Skype come out of my AIS 1/2 call thing or from my AIS MaoMao399 monthly internet package. And when calling from a cellphone, do you need to be connected to the internet or is the AIS 1/2 call enough, without internet access. I know these are really basic questions but I have never used Skype before as I seldom call overseas. Thanks.
CaptHaddock
Yes, you need to be connected to the internet to use a voip service like Skype, Viber, Google Hangouts, etc. It uses the data capacity of your internet package. You may also need to open a cash account with Skype and deposit some money, although the call to a US 800 number will not actually cost anything.
