PLEASE HELP ME WITH ADVICE, I AM VERY WORRRIED!

I am 27 years old and married to my Thai wife (we met and married in England). I we have 4 children. My 12 month marriage visa is running out (runs out on october 16th). Obviously I do not want to go to Burma aNd return 3 times, as I will have to be apart from my family for 90 days! (however I may do this once or twice before I come to Bangkok to try to sort out my problem).

My problem:

I do not work here, as I do not have a degree. - Although I previously taught English and maths in a private school (not strictly legally) and did various part time langauge school work abd private tutoring.

I went to university and was the top student in my entire class for 2 years and was expected to get a first pretty easily. However, without going into details, I had to leave university for the love of my wife and go to Thailand because of personal problems surrounding her leaving her son - who is now my son, Iam his daddy.

Being a highly educted person, but with nothing to show for it, you can imagine how I feel!

THE PROBLEM:

I have previously extended my marriage visa, as I had 400,000

in the bank on a previous occasion. However, I am not sure if I can have the money ready in an account in time. I have been getting aproximately 42000 baht sent into a Thai bank account on a regular basis, in addition to 200 pounds (14,000 baht going into a U.K. bank account per month).

We also have a business that procures approximately 25,000 baht that my wife runs (complete with all receipts and bookwork). Additionally, my family are in the process of selling their assets, so that they can live here. We aim to start a big business / several small businesses

,as combined assets total perhaps 40 million baht.

-However, I am sceptical as to whether 400,000 can immediately be surfaced and put into an account.

WILL MY FINANCIAL SECURITY (AS LISTED ABOVE) SURFICE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXTENDING MY VISA FOR ANOTHER YEAR? - I KNOW THAT I COULD ALWAYS GO BACK TO ENGLAND, BEFORE RETURNING; BUT WITH A FAMILY TO SUPPORT, I DO NOT WANT THE EXPENSE.

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED SO MUCH.

Thanks

I don't understand, you have a family with assets of around $ 1 million and you cannot come up with (borrow if necessary) around $10,000. I sympathize with your personal situation as you describe it but surely if necessary, a family member could lend you the money or borrow it. Stick the money in the bank while processing your extension paperwork, and then take it out and pay it back if necessary.

I not an expert in marriage visa extensions but is the requirement B400,000 OR a monthly amount. If a monthly amount qualifies, then it would be around B33,000 if they use the same guidelines that they use for retirement visas. You do receive more than that amount. Maybe that would suffice :o

Good luck.

Given your age I understand that the immigration will be more interested in seeing an income every month, rather than the lump sum.

Can you show 40K a month?

Alternatively go to Penang and get a tourist visa to tide you over until you can get your finances sorted out or your business established.

If you can not get the requirements for extension of stay, I would talk with immigration first, you can always obtain a non immigrant O visa allowing 90 day stays and KL or Singapore should be able to provide a multi entry type that would cover you for more than a year with only border runs required every 90 days. There is no reason for you to become a 30 day border runner and subject yourself to the 90 day rule.

If you go to Malaysia or Singapore to obtain visa take marriage certificate, birth certificates, copy of wife ID card, copy of her home register (and your bank passbook to be extra safe). Air Asia and other discount airlines fly those routes at reasonable price and with good timing it can be done in 36 hours or so from Bangkok.
