Just wondered if any one new how many countries there are in the world , the other half just bizarrely plucked the question

out of nowhere, before any one does what I did first and go on the interweb Google says it is 196, and Siri says it is 206 does

anyone actually know.

Currently there is 209 countries eligible to play in the World cup.

And 206 Olympic recognised countries.

Are there any countries beside Thailand???

the problem is what is considered a country.

England, Wales and Scotland can participate in the World Cup, although they aren't independent countries.

Others are refused that status by some powers because of political reasons, Palestina, Crimea...

What about Dubai, Abu Dhabi ... or just UAE ?
