HM the King has been honoured as The Supreme Patron of Thai Heritage

The Council for Democratic Reform has agreed to a proposal by the Ministry of Culture to recognize His Majesty the King as "The Supreme Patron of Thai Heritage" to commemorate the occasion of the 60th anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the Throne.

CDR Spokesperson Lieutenant-General Palangoon Klaharn said the title was to recognize His Majesty's wisdom and integrity in preserving and restoring Thai culture in various aspects.

The Ministry of Culture had drafted the proposal for royal approval and would publish a book entitled "His Majesty the King and Thai Heritage Preservation" to be presented to His Majesty on the 5th of December 2006.

A budget for the publication will be sought through the Bureau of the Budget.
