Android not recognizing OTG

I'm just starting into the world of Android and need some help.

My Lenova 7 inch tablet running Android 4.1.2 says "usb conector is

conected" when I plug in the OTG cable attached to my flash drive

but it doesn't show up in the file explorer.

It used to but then it got tempremental and now it's stopped compleatly.

So I looked at a few videos on utube and went to download an app to read the

OTG but the machine said there was no room for that app.

Then I went to download Titanium app to delete some stock app but it said

I can't use this app because the machine is not rooted.

So can somebody talk me through this.

Root--Delete Apps and Read USB.

It's possible your USB OTG cable is broken. The wires and connectors don't stand up to much use.

Could also be that you've enabled another USB mode (Developer Mode perhaps) and you need to turn that back off before the device will play nice.

ALSO, posted before in previous threads:

ROOTING is done to get 'write' access to the OS.

Manufacturers will sometimes send out updates to fix a glitch or patch security but don't count on them delivering the next OS version.

Many android devices never receive OEM OS updates. If it's not broke, they may say, why fix it?

I would suggest that ANYBODY seeking to modify the firmware of their smartphone seek out QUALIFIED advice from major user forums.
The amount of seemingly helpful (and free) 3rd-party tools containing trojan spyware is scary. Always, always, always seek out the tools from the respected forum sites.

The connector for charging and OTG on those Lenovo tablets can work loose after time. A friend has one and was quoted virtually the cost of a new tablet to get it repaired as the repair meant replacing the motherboard. These days rather than relying on OTG cables you may as well buy a purpose built OTG flash drive. Just under 300 baht for this Kingston 16GB USB 3.0 model. Other brands are even cheaper.

As Rich said, could be a problem with the cable. You can test with another cable or test with a OTG flash drive. Not a big difference in price these days. Also just try moving around the cable connector as it could simply be a loose connection. That is what my friend has to do to get their tablet to start charging now.
