Thailand the land of smiles is know more it is the land of nightmers for many european who have lived and worked there along time in some ways contributing to the econamy and the country, but that has never been apresiated, as with all third world type places when they have a good tourist base and infestucture is bulit up mostly from forighner efferts they get all snoty and o lets get rid of the forighner, it is very difficult to start a small busness in thailand now, and a recidency card for 5 years like you can get in spain forget it, YES YOU CAN SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON CONDOES ADVERTISED EVERY WERE COME AND LIVE IN THE LAND OF SMILES GET AWAY FROM THE COLD.

RUBBISHHHHH. you can buy a condo but you canot live in it perminantly Thailand is becomeing a nightmer the forighner is not respected andy more i say lets all get out and give another country a chance they will apreseate more the investments and people who want to live and work there.

Thailand is rude arigant and not a safe place any more you will get ripped of very easy more than before, or may be mugged or killed, any one thinking of going there dont go some were elese the thais are faulse fake people who hate the forighner but love his cash MONEY DOLLERRRRR. The thousands of poor people who will be thoughn out of thailand now due to new rules is hart braking the paine they must be suffreing of haveing nearly all there cash chewed up buy the thais and know just being thown out like rubish yes rubish that is why they are doing all this tuff stuff to get rid of the rubbish. GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN WITH WHAT YOU CAN BEFORE THEY MAKE IT EVEN MORE BAD OR WORSE, DONT INVEST IN THAILAND , DONT BELIVE ALL THE SMILES BEHINED THE SMILES IS A DEVIL WHO WANT YOUR DOLLERRRR NOT YOU.

The anti-farang sentiment that is obviously current in some parts of Thai society is not only sad but is leading to a type of discrimination against even hard working farangs here.

But WELCOME TO THE WORLD.

This nasty attitude on display a lot lately here in LOS is not monopolised by the LOS.

No matter where you go, there you are.

The WORLD is this way, not just Thailand.

Just remember - you take yourself where ever you go - thats one thing you cant get away from.

And secondly, for every 1 bad experaince someone reports, 10 000 others will report a good experiance.

Sure - there are always bumps in the road, but you get over them and learn from them - and if you can't, remember what I said in paragraph 1 - perhaps its time you took a hard look at how you respond to the "bumps" in the road.

The victim, 40-year-old DJ Wanida Thongyod, was a popular host on a community radio station and a TikTok personality with a large following in the area. The incident occurred on October 3 at a laundromat in Saphan Mai Kaen, where the suspect, identified as Ms. Pornpimon “Nee” Sawatroj, confronted the DJ over a longstanding debt issue. Armed with a .38 revolver, Ms. Pornpimon fired multiple shots at the victim, striking her in the back of the head. After the shooting, the suspect took the wounded DJ to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. According to police reports, the dispute revolved around a 200,000-baht loan, which Ms. Pornpimon claimed had gone unpaid. DJ Wanida had guaranteed the loan for a friend, a local teacher, but despite numerous attempts to settle the debt, the matter remained unresolved. On the day of the shooting, tensions escalated, leading to the fatal altercation. Eyewitnesses described hearing three gunshots followed by screams. Ms. Pornpimon was seen conversing with her daughter outside the laundromat before her son-in-law, a police officer, arrived to assist her. Upon realising the gravity of the situation, the officer helped transport the wounded DJ to the hospital. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured the incident. DJ Wanida’s sister, Ms. Khwanrudee Thongyod, expressed shock and sadness, stating that her sister had always treated Ms. Pornpimon as a maternal figure. The two women had been close, and Ms. Pornpimon had been a strong supporter of Wanida’s online presence, often referred to as a “fan mother” for her role in encouraging the DJ’s success on TikTok. Despite their previous close relationship, the debt dispute proved too much, ultimately leading to the tragic shooting. Ms. Pornpimon later surrendered herself to local authorities, admitting to the crime and claiming she acted out of anger over the unpaid loan. She now faces charges of premeditated murder and illegal possession of a firearm.       You seem to think that the Thai tax issues affect only wealthy individuals and ignore the vulnerable, average and aged expat pensioner retiree who has no experience of managing or filing tax returns. My interest lies in trying to help the average and below average member, many of whom are deeply scared and confused by all things foreign tax related. My past tax, finance and Big 4 work experience, combined with the fact I have lived in Thailand full time for over 20 years, may be of help to some of that group. Those things are why I mostly ignore the never ending debates about CRS and foreign DTA's. I have no interest in the tax affairs of people like you and others who talk in terms of buying 1,000 Apple and being concerned at the tax implications when you sell, or the large dividend payments given to you by your parents. If you can afford to buy 1,000 Apple you can also afford to put your hand in your pocket and spend 20k at Ernst and Young and get the best Thai tax advice that money can buy. So exactly why you even bother to log onto this thread, especially given that you live full time over 8,500 kms away. is extraordinary, to say the least! If there are members of AN who risk millions in tax as a result of CRS, they must be some of the cheapest rich people on the planet, in order to have such wealth yet seek tax advice from a social networking forum! I am personally aware of at least two AN members who talked in terms of self harm and required support and intervention, such was their fear of what might happen to their paltry income in retirement here as a result of the tax changes. Meanwhile, you talk about the millions at risk overseas by wealthy expat, dear Lord, we're not even on the same planet, let alone the same subject.
