Phuket riot reflects much that's gone wrong

The reputation and past action and /or inaction by the RTP in Puket as well as throught Thailand probabkt had more to do with the publics reaction than the 2 who died, manner of death, drugs involved, etc.

The public is, are becoming fed up with the attitude and inequality displayed by RTP, immigration, civil servents, hi so families, etc to the common, honest people by those who feel they are superior , thus entitled to standards reserved for themselves which they establish. The only recourse , seems is to resort to violence against what is seen as self appointed, self serving style authority.

Thailand may be 50 plus years behind other countries in this respect but they are aware of this action that has been successful and may rapidly catch up. The law abiding citizens start toting a 1 meter club and draw attention to those overstepping authority or the law,to like minded citizens who in turn beat some manners into to those deserving. Some may describe this as a riot while others call it ''restoring law and order'' It has proven effective in the latter time and time again in dealing with lawless elements of society.

Secondly, the police are not allowed to fire their guns at suspects except in self-defence, and, even then, there are firm guidelines for any given situation.

The writer assumes the gun shot was police. Could easily have been a rioter. Rioters are rioters and some make carry guns and wish to provoke more violence and shot their guns.

Rioters in support of criminals show the level of the community. Phuket is a cesspool of crime a ghetto of drug dealers gangs and mafia.

Doesn't it read that the riot was caused by the shooting? So the rioters were not present when the boys were shot. They came after the shooting.

The boys were not shot. They died from hitting a police vehicle.

Thank you. Should have stayed in bed. . . . .

"We can only ask, again, why petty involvement in illegal drugs must automatically lead to death."

Stupid question. Death was caused by trying to escape from police on a motorcycle, an inherently dangerous action.

Deadly force seems justified in order to prevent the death or serious injury to the officer(s) or the public. Whatever means the suspects took to flee, while perhaps connected to their unfortunate demise, is seemingly irrelevant to the officers actions.

I wasn't there, don't know anyone what was and don't have inside information. Often, news articles, are written by someone who wasn't there and who is relying on second and third hand information.

I've been taught that no question is stupid, unless considered as such, by the person asking it.

What actions of the officers? Were those killed rammed or run over, or simply pursued until their ambitions exceeded their abilities?

God's gift to the stupid is that they don't know how stupid they are.

"... let this be a lesson to the stern rule of the National Council for Peace and Order and the military-led government: social justice is important to ordinary citizens, and in these empowered times they are less likely to tolerate injustice. .."

Meant to indicate that the government needs to address justice fairly and consistently.

Taken by the government as a good reason to stop empowering the citizens with knowledge and freedoms.

That's right. The drug dealers were really a pair of diamond geezers leading the struggle for liberation and freedom and the rioting mob were rising up in a scene from Les Miserables.

that is so daft - how on earth does petty drug involvement automatically lead to death, so that means that all recreational drug users/small time dealers will be automatically dead when exactly...??

actually don't even bother answering, why did I even ask

where is my beer/stash before I automatically am dead....
