Philadelphia man arrested in brutal murder of transgender woman
BY BNO NEWS

PHILADELPHIA: -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Philadelphia in the brutal murder of a 22-year-old transgender woman who was beaten and shot in the back multiple times, officials said on Monday.

Police spokeswoman Tanya Little said homicide investigators had received a tip on Sunday that led to the arrest of 24-year-old Pedro Redding for his alleged involvement in the murder of Kiesha Jenkins. Redding, who has four prior arrests for narcotics, aggravated assault, robbery, and a weapons violation, has been charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, a weapons charge, and related offenses.

“The motive in this case appears to be robbery. The investigation continues for others involved,” Little said.

Keisha Jenkins, 22, was attacked at about 2:30 a.m. ET on October 6 near Hunting Park in North Philadelphia.

Not sure why this is news. Just another day in the city of brotherly love.

Maybe he found a sausage instead of a taco... not all people are so understanding about the "third gender" as Thais are!

Terrible death and so young...

I don't think this news story rates as international release worthy news. It just sounds like another murder in the U.S. Would we hear about a similar type of murder in Chile? Nope.

testing the waters for click count worthiness. We haven't had this sort of story yet.

Israel, Trump, Clinton, gay rights, Russia....all big click attracters.

Transgender murder has potential, I suppose.

Don't recall this one making international news.

Or, the four others mentioned here.

Pedro has an extensive rap sheet...should likely have been in prison instead of roaming freely looking for another victim...sad end to a probable sadder young life...

Life is not easy for a transgender person...trying to avoid bigotry and violence is a way of life...

There is nothing in the news story saying this was a hate crime.

JT - almost at the end of the "Full Story)

"Police previously said they did not yet know whether Jenkins’ murder was a hate crime."

That's pretty weak. If they don't have any evidence, then it's irrelevant.

It's pretty obvious this wouldn't be in an international news release if the victim wasn't a transgender person and given there is no evidence that is relevant, it's just empty sensationalism.
