PATTAYA: -- On Wednesday Morning a 39 year old Fruit Shop owner was tricked into leaving her shop which led to the theft of cash and valuables.

Police arrived at the fruit shop, situated in Soi 42 off the Sukhumvit Road in Central Pattaya and met with Khun Jantima who told Police how she was tricked into leaving her shop.

A Thai man arrived on a motorbike and informed the shop owner that he wanted to place a large order of Oranges but needed her to accompany him to see his wife to go through exactly what he wanted.

Khun Jantima was taken on the culprit’s motorbike to the front of the Pattaya Pat Condominium, 500 meters away from her shop, where she was told to wait outside while his wife arrived in their pick-up. She would then drive the shop owner back to the shop so the large consignment of fruit could be loaded on the back of the truck.

As Khun Jantima waited outside the Condominium, she received a call from her Mother who informed her that the man returned to the shop and pretended to purchase grapes and somehow managed to steal a bag containing 40,000 Baht in cash, some jewelry and Khun Jantima’s Bank Book.

I didn't realise running a fruit shop was so profitable.

40 k that's a lot of fruit where I live.

I hope the police work pays off and their efforts are brought to fruition.

Theft at a fruiter.... thing must be slowing down in Pattaya to report such mundane incident,

I wait to read the news about a kid who lost his 5 baht coin next...

Yes, it might have been better in the bank account she obviously had.

There have been several of these thefts in Pattaya recently, where stall owners are scammed by motorcyclists with some claim of a big order in order to get them to leave their stall. You would think the stall owners have learned to wise up? But, common sense goes out the window, when someone waves a little money at them.

a very clever ploy one I have read about before I feel sorry for this lady to be robbed of 40,000baht what was her mother doing to allow this man access to the money? I do hope the police catch this man he has done it before and he will keep on doing it till he is caught .

I have not seen any mention of a description of the villain surely that would help in the apprehension of this man .

Its only a few months ago we read the same story. So I wonder if it's the same guys ?
