October 22, 201510 yr I have a solicitor putting the wife's FLR application together and she queried whether my Metro Bank statements are original, they are. They are the normal monthly statements that come through the post, I didn't need to apply for copies. The question is if to the solicitor they look like copies then they will look like copies to UKVI also. How do I prove that they aren't?
October 22, 201510 yr I went to the bank and they printed out 12 months statements for me on HSBC headed paper. They look nothing like the monthly statement I get, the monthly statement is so much easier to read and understand!
October 22, 201510 yr Author What did your solicitor advise? She asked me to confirm if they were originals, I said that they were. Do UKVI ask or simply reject?
October 22, 201510 yr Appendix fm 1.7 Page 10 3.3.4 Can't copy and paste I'm on my phone and it's a pdf file Why are you using a solicitor? Had some problems?
October 23, 201510 yr The previous poster refers to this para: Quote3.3.4. Bank statements must be on official bank stationery. Alternatively electronic bank statements can also be accepted for all bank accounts (the account itself does not have to be exclusively online) as long as they are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page. This doesn't really apply to you as you're supplying original statements on official stationary. If the decision maker has reasonable cause to doubt the authenticity of the evidence you've supplied then they should take reasonable steps to confirm the genuineness of the evidence, I don't think they would refuse an application unless they could prove that you've submitted forged evidence, which you clearly haven't. Quote3.3.11. Under paragraph GEN.1.5. of Appendix FM, where decision-makers have reasonable cause to doubt the genuineness of any information or document submitted in support of an application and, after taking reasonable steps, are unable to verify that it is genuine, the information or document will be discounted for the purposes of the application. 3.3.12. Decision-makers are able to refuse the application if they have evidence that the applicant or partner has deceived them as to the level and/or source of income or has withheld relevant information, e.g. that the cash savings relied upon are a loan. theoldgit
October 23, 201510 yr Trevor, do you have the original letter from the bank when you opened the account. If so, include that as well.
October 23, 201510 yr Author Trevor, do you have the original letter from the bank when you opened the account. If so, include that as well. Probably not. I know they are definitely original as they have a fold down the middle where the bank puts them in the envelope. I can see why the solicitor is querying them . They have an inconsistent appearance, slight colour variations. I assume that is just Metro Bank's printing process. They have the look of a photo copy but again I assume it is the printing process that they use. But at least it looks like not believing they are original is not grounds to reject the application.
October 23, 201510 yr I can see no reason why they would not accept the statements; but if you want to be absolutely sure you can always get your bank to certify them as genuine.
October 26, 201510 yr Author I can see no reason why they would not accept the statements; but if you want to be absolutely sure you can always get your bank to certify them as genuine. I called the bank on Friday and as there is time before the application I have asked them to send a complete set of originals. If need be I can visit the bank and have them authenticate the. Having a bank that open on a Sunday is such an advantage.
