Retirement Visas

Featured Replies

I'm a retired English man and have been living in Thailand for the past 5 years. Most of the time I have been staying on a one month tourist visa.

My English pension is less than the required amount of 800,000 per year.

I would like to know if its possible to get a multiple entry non immigrant O visa from one of Thailand's neighbouring countries.

A few years ago I got a multiple entry visa from the Thai consulate in Penang but I'm not sure if this is possible anymore. Some people tell me KL is a good option.

I have been reading this forum but so far have only found stories regarding changes to tourist visas and business visas.

Has anyone been to KL recently to get their multiple entry non immigrant O ?

Regards

Your pension income does not have to be above 800k to obtain a retirement extension of stay. Your pension can be combined with your bank account savings to meet the requirement.

Although Penang had been providing multi entry non immigrant O visas to those over age 50 with money in the bank that seems to have ended from recent reports. I have not heard of other Consulates in the area providing multi entry non immigrant O visas except for those with a Thai spouse.

Lopburi 3,

To the best of your knowledge is Penang still issuing one entry non-immigrant O visas? According to a friend, the October 1 edition of Pattaya today indicates that the medical is no longer required for the retirement visa.

Believe Penang will issue for marriage but other than that we can not be sure until people report there experience.

The medical requirement should become clearer soon as those in the system start to report. It is still listed on the official web site.
