Hi Thaicat, I hope that I have fully understood your question.

I assume from what you have written you are not currently living in Australia but sometimes return to Perth when your husband has his holidays.

I also assume that your husband is an Australian citizen and in your spouse visa application, you nominated his Perth address as your intended home.

If so, it would be this address where the Australian Department of Immigration will forward their correspondence to.

Your Spouse Visa (Provisional) will remain in force until a decision is made on your application for the migrant visa.

This usually takes about two years from the date that the Provisional Visa was granted. A letter will be forwarded to your Perth address in due course advising you that your application for a permanent visa has been granted.

This usually happens automatically and you won't have to attend any interviews or make any written submissions.

Once this letter has been received, you will need to attend the Dept. of Immigration in Perth to have your passport updated.

Following the granting of a permanent residency, should you wish to apply for permanent citizenship, you will need to wait a further two years before you are eligible. The two year period comprises of the time you have spent in Australia, minus any time on overseas holidays or living outside of Australia.

For permanent citizenship, you will need to have at least one uninterrupted period of 12 months living in Australia.

if you want some advice, we have done that stuff already and you can ring us in Adelaide and talk to my wife, I will PM you with our phone number if you want

You're welcome, Thaicat.

In addition to Bronco's kind offer, I also have a female Thai friend living in Western Australia who has just obtained her permanent citizenship.

She would be happy to answer any questions that you may have regarding the visa procedures. She can chat with you via the telephone.

Should you need any further help in this regard, you only need to send a personal message from Thai Visa to either Bronco or myself and the phone numbers will be given to you.

Good luck and welcome to Australia. :o

I understand that the waiting time for citizenship is currently 3 years, and they are issuing out a new law to increase that to 4 years?
