Non-B to Tourist to Non-B

Featured Replies

Two questions:

1. Can a Tourist Visa be extended at any immigration office or at the office in the district where I am staying? My preference is Samut Prakan -- where I've previously been issued Non-B's -- to Bangkok, the district where my residence is registered.

2. I am currently on a Tourist Visa while my work permit is sorted out by the office administrator (long, tired, complicated story). I was unable to extend my previous Non B in time and was advised to get a Tourist Visa in the interim. It's now time for the 30 day extension. Though I am technically not working during this interim period, will it cause any problems at Immigration since I've clearly been employed in Thailand, prior to my changing to Tourist Visa? Put another way: will an Immigration Officer question whether or not I have been working while on a Tourist Visa and will this lead to any suspicion or additional scrutiny? If so, any advice?

Thank you in advance.

1. You can get an extension of the 60 day tourist visa entry at any immigration office but you must have a local address on the application form.

2. There will be not questions about your previous non-b visa history when you apply for the extension.
