Dominican Republic to demand international warrants for French "Air Cocaine" fugitives

PARIS: -- The Dominican Republic is to demand international arrest warrants for two Frenchmen accused of flying 680 kilos of cocaine into the country who have fled the island and are back in France.

On a US tip-off the pilots, Pascal Fauret and Bruno Odos, were arrested along with two others in 2013. In August Fauret and Odos were given 20 years in jail.

Back in Paris they say they were helped by group to escape, and recent pictures have emerged of them with a Front Nationale politician.

“As long as the justice system conducts no investigation, does not listen to what you have to say, and gives you 20 years only because you’re French and not from a good Christian family…well, I’m sorry, but my reflex is to return home so I can tell my story before French
justice and end this affair,” said Fauret.

The “Air Cocaine” affair, as the French press is calling it, is far from over. The two other men, Nicolas Pisapia and Alain Castany remain in Dominica and fear their co-accused’s flight means they will be shown no mercy.
