Jimi Hendrix London flat to open fully to public

LONDON: -- Jimi Hendrix's London home is to open as a permanent museum for the public to visit on 10 February 2016.
The flat at 23 Brook Street, Mayfair has undergone a £2.4m restoration with the help of money from the Heritage Lottery Fund and private donors.

Hendrix bought the third-floor flat in 1968 at a time when he was considering the next phase of his career and that summer he released his Electric Ladyland LP.

Tickets will go on sale on 2 November.

The flat is in the same row as the home of the German-born composer George Frideric Handel, who lived at number 25 Brook Street for 26 years and wrote many of his greatest works, including the Messiah.

Hendrix produced some great music for his time, but not so sure he could be compared with Handel. coffee1.gif

Well, just for starters, could Handel play the clavichord with his teeth?

2.5 million pound renovation.....wow he must have lived in trash can, think it will hardly reflect his actual living standards.

The music was fine for its day and that was 1967....50 years on maybe 2 or 3 songs have stood the test of time.

Hey Joe, that's one.

All Along The Watchtower, that's two.

Purple Haze, that's three.

Voodoo Child, that's four.

Hendrix was a genius ! Ask any guitarist !! .. Not only could he play a left handed strung guitar right handed he could play a right handed strung guitar both left and right handed !! If you really did deep into his recordings ,l of which so much is still not released ,you will find his style varied greatly... Who knows what he would be playing now ... Fly on Jimi !! RESPECT !! thumbsup.gif

He was simply wonderful, great music doesn't age, otherwise no one would be listening to Beethoven today.

He composed many ,many great tracks which sound as fresh today as back in 67 and 68.

It's a shame we don't really know the truth about his death, was he really killed by his manager Mike Jeffrey? Sadly all the people around him then are dead, drugs and plane crashes.
