Western Ring Road

Featured Replies

Just talked to some men doing road survey work at the Irrigation road behind the TOT office along the superhighway at San Sai (near the National Housing Authority - Karn Keha housing project.). They said that it was going to be for the 18 km west ring road that comes out near Ban Du - actually, the intersection going to the New Airport.

Could you be more specific on locations and whatever plans you heard. Thanks.

When you say 'Western Ring Road' ...do you mean plans for a major road around the west side of Chiang Rai city?

I had heard such a road would connect (from the SW) to the Super Hwy 1 at Ban Du, near Rajabat U. Is this the Ring Road you're referring to?

This will be the counterpart of the eastern ring road which goes along the New Airport. Attached photo taken from road along irrigation ditch.

Living east of town we use the eastern ring road a lot. I am guessing in time the western ring road will end up being well utilized by people living to the west, as well.

Anything that will help reduce the traffic on Hwy 1 though the city center is good.

Drove along the new airport boundary road heading north today, it comes to a dead end at route 1209 that runs east and follows the Kok River.

1209 cannot be accessed directly at this stage.
