Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

I have a visa based on my Thai wife. I had to put in 200,000 then 400,000 in the past. I have a job with a WP - 30,000 a month. Does anyone know if this is enough so that i don't have to put 400,000 in the bank coz I'm skint :o

Nope, to get a one year extension based on marriage you need either a fresh 400k+ in the bank or (apparently no longer valid) 40k/month income (or tax receipts for the equivalent). One possible "workaround" would be that you declare 40k and pay tax for 40k even though you just make 30k.

How about getting your employer to pay you 40,000 a month for 9 months of the year, instead of 30,000 for twelve....money works out the same. Just an idea :D

It appears the the 400k bank deposit may still be an option and I suspect it will likely be used as the retirement, in that you can make up for shortfall with the bank money. Believe the next few days will clarify the situation.
