Creature in my garden this evening, what is it?

Featured Replies

Looks like a snake, moves like a snake, but has four legs.

Photo taken on my driveway next to the garden hose.

About 8" long

The locals don't know what it is either!

Some kind of skink? (No, not a skank- their legs are longer...).

yep, looks like a skink. never seen this kind of skink in SE Asia before though, so I can't narrow down to any specific genus.

According to another post Costas has gone missing?

Short-limbed Supple Skink – small, very elongated body with tiny legs

Yep ,I agree , just looked it up in ' Snakes of Thailand ' Just about everyone i know up here in the north would say it was a baby King Cobra , only snake they can name.

It's a baby king cobra whistling.gif

"Good eating" in the provinces.

Short garden hose? (555).

came across something similar "walking the few yards between 2 canals" on a golf course. It was only about a foot long and had very developed legs, so it could really walk, freaking missing link looking thing!

I admired it for a few minutes with my golfing friend.

when we were finished the caddy caught it and put in a bag.

later I saw they made larb for lunch with it.

We have something like this in aussie, and we call it a legless lizard, but never seen one in thailand.

Not to be confused with the legless lounge lizard, endemic to many countries including Thailand. wink.png

Poke it with your finger and see if it bites

if it bites it's a snake

if it just licks your face, it's a dog.

Not a legless lizard as ..........ITS GOT LEGS. In England nearly 60 years ago we often caught Slow Worms , no legs but not snakes.

It`s a Troy Tempest. It has W.A.S.P hat and everything.

I agree with Oncearugge,,,, either that, or snakes are evolving laugh.png
