Phuket beach management adjustments to be decided this month

V/ Gov Chokdee Armornrat (right) hopes that adjustments to the beach management system will be finalised by mid-November.

PHUKET: -- Any adjustments to the 10 per cent beach management system introduced by previous Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong will be finalised and introduced by mid-November according to Phuket Vice Governor Chokdee Armornrat.

V/Gov Chokdee originally hoped to have concrete answers to the adjustments by Sunday (Nov 1) the official start of the high season (see story here), but more time is needed to ensure that the decisions made do not fail.

Speaking to The Phuket News today (Nov 3) V/Gov Chokdee said, “We need additional time because we want to be more certain on what we do. Every adjustment we make should be firm and not fail,” he said.

“Our committee meetings over the past two weeks have made a lot of progress and we will try to wrap things up by November 15. We are working as fast as we can,” V/Gov Chokdee added.

What a circus. Pity the fool tourist who takes a chair and umbrella to the beach.

The 10% zone is not enforced in any meaningful way. Any 'adjustments' will depend on the brown envelopes .... what a circus of corruption.

Adjustments to bank balances is all can see forthcoming....

This report says V/G Chokdee has revealed that he wants the plan to include 'virgin beaches'.

In almost the impossible dream for some, he actually says that the beaches to have their virginity returned would be announced at the same time as the new beach management plan.

I guess they just have to figure out the hierarchy at the trough.
