November 6, 201510 yr Hi, my thai mother in law is blind and would love a talking clock so she could understand the time. I am currently in the uk and would love to buy one online and send it to her, however i,m having difficulty finding one in the thai language. Does anyone know where i can buy one from. Thanks
November 6, 201510 yr Well they certainly seem to exist, a Google revealed several competitions to win one. Unfortunately none actually detail the clock itself. It may be worth sending a message to one of the competition organisers (they are on other Thai forums so I can't link to them). "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
November 6, 201510 yr Get a Thai wife or a GF, she'll talk your ears off, including reminding you that the time to give her more money on the hour....
November 6, 201510 yr I have a bottom of the line Nokia mobile phone If you scroll down to and select 'clock'you can then select 'speaking clock' which will announce the time in a digital voice "The time is six forty seven" BTW once in speaking clock mode you can leave it there until you need I guess to do something else. November 7, 201510 yr Had you considered getting one that is read by touch? E.g. https://www.dezeenwatchstore.com/shop/all/bradley-mesh/ Alternatively, there are speaking clock apps in Thai, e.g. http://th.mobomarket.net/download-%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%AA-%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%87-tts-%E0%B8%9E-%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%AC-%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A5-%E0%B8%81-for-android-4294432892.html And finally, here's what appears to be a Thai speaking clock: http://siamshopping.tarad.com/product-th-666674-3233814-%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%AC%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2+%E0%B8%9E%E0%B8%B9%E0%B8%94%E0%B9%84%E0%B8%94%E0%B9%89.html And here http://www.gift2home.net/store/product/view/%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%AC%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%9E%E0%B8%B9%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%A0%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A9%E0%B8%B2%E0%B9%84%E0%B8%97%E0%B8%A2%E0%B9%84%E0%B8%94%E0%B9%89_%E0%B8%9E%E0%B8%A3%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%93%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%A0%E0%B8%B9%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%B4-19110286-th.html And a video of the Mayita brand one being used
November 7, 201510 yr Wow, kinda ironic to read this topic. I just had my first foot/shoulder massage by a blind person and they had this device which they can press a button and it will announce the time in Thai. It's too late for me to ask her now where she got hers but maybe try emailing a school for the blind in Thailand? This lady was also considerably old and not someone of technical prowess (as per her own admittance when her phone went off), but she had no problem using this audio clock.
November 7, 201510 yr BTW now that I've played with it a bit, my cheap Nokia can be programmed so that speaking clock mode can sound by only pressing 2 buttons with no scrolling required.
November 8, 201510 yr I have an age old cheapish Nokia (backup) bought in Thailand which can do, but not in Thai! Edited November 8, 201510 yr by KhunBENQ
