Russia calls for a new Syrian constitution in 18 months

13 died of dengue fever in four lower NE provinces this year

BANGKOK: -- Over 11,000 people in lower northeastern region were found to be inflicted with dengue fever this year and, of these, 13 of them have died, said Dr Thirawat Walaisathien, director of the 9th diseases prevention office based in Nakhon Ratchasima, on Wednesday.

4 UDD members jailed for torching Khon Kaen provincial hall in 2010

Provinces cope with sever drought

BANGKOK, 11 November 2015 (NNT) - Various provinces across the country are coping with this year’s severe drought with water-efficient projects and economic relief policies.


In Chiang Rai province, water in the Mae Suai dam has continued to deplete due lower rain compared to the previous year. The dam currently has 37 million cubic meters of water, which is only sufficient for household consumption and not enough to feed over 100,000 rai of farmland along the Lao River. After the harvesting season, Chiang Rai’s irrigation department will urge farmers to resort to more water-efficient crops.

In Uttaradit province, Governor Surasak Chareornsirichot visited Thong Saen Khan district to inspect the construction of check dams in the subdistricts of Phak Khuang, Nam Phi and Pa Kai that will be designed retain water during the drought season. Currently, 24,927 rai of farmland in four subdistricts of Thong Saen Khan are affected by the drought.

In Sukhothai province, the local Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives has announced measures to assist drought-affected residents in nine districts, in accordance with Cabinet resolutions to provide debt-extension schemes and loans for local businesses.

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN — Swarms of jellyfish continue sending swimmers to hospital a month after their stings killed a tourist on Koh Samui, prompting louder warnings for visitors to be careful.

Finnish Tourist caught-up in unpaid bill dispute at Pattaya Beer Bar

PATTAYA: -- A 53 year old tourist from Finland was caught-up in a situation outside of a Beer Bar in Soi 8 off Pattaya Beach Road late on Monday Night which saw him struck over the head with a shoe belonging to a Ladyboy.
