Realy no eu visa required for Thai government workers?

Hi!

A friend of mine have a Thai gf she works in a government office. , one time I heard that Thai gov workers not need any eu visa requerments, is this a rumour or Not?

Can her Family Nenners and children also enter without visa ?

No she needs a Shenegen Visa! I also believe the EU Countries will no longer have open borders. Sweden and France now have closed their borders!

Holders of Thai diplomatic passports need visas for some but not all Schengen countries. There's a list at http://www.immihelp.com/visas/schengenvisa/visa_exemptions_schedule.pdf . Diplomatic passports may be extended to those on government business. There may well be other conditions attached to their use. I see that one could have entered Italy on a Thai diplomatic passport and then illegally entered France across a normally unpoliced border, but that is about the limit of the effect of Swedish and French borders being 'closed'.

The inconsistency on either side of an open border is not unique to the Schengen area - the same applies to the Common Travel Area. For example, being settled in the UK does not of itself legally permit one to travel to Dublin.

Why are you talking about Diplomatic Passports! This is about a Thai Woman with a normal Thai Passport! She needs a Shengen Visa! Nothing else!

I am assume Richard W is talking about Diplomatic Passports because in the Chinese Whispers ( OP ==> OP's buddy ==> OP's buddy's girlfriend) there has been a fundamental confusion between holders of normal Thai Passports and holders of Thai Diplomatic Passports. Richard W has gone on to explain that in some circumstances holders of Thai Diplomatic Passports do not require a visa to travel to the EU. That was the OP's question, which turned out to be a misunderstanding.

The Netherlands for example state that "Holders of Thai diplomatic and service passport holders travelling to Netherlands do not need a visa for the Netherlands when going for official purposes".

But if traveling on an ordinairy passport one needs a visa, even when going for official meetings official (invitation).

If this petson eithet has a diplomatic passport and/or part of an official meeting/delegation they may not need a visa but it would be best to check with the embassy of thr destination country concerned.

The most common visas for EU destinations are UK visa and Schengen visa. Each with their own rules. So the answer is: going on a holiday to Europe? Get a visa, government worker or not, they don't get a special treatment just because they work for the government (half the country seems to work for government anyway?).

99% of Thai's will need a Schengen Visa to Visit the EU! My wife is C-7 with the government and we have traveled to Italy several times. The government would never issue her a diplomatic visa. You need to buy an election, in order to qualify for a diplomatic visa. And right now, the elections are not up for sale!
