NLA holds public forum in Nan province

BANGKOK, 16 October 2015 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly has visited another northern province to hear the opinions of local residents related to their problems and political reform.

Members of the NLA traveled to Nan province over the weekend where a public forum was organized at the city hall.

Most residents of the region have complained about their need for a title deed for land inside the forest reserve, in order to pave the way for the construction of a reservoir or a water retention system to help them in their farm work.

At the same time, Nan residents made proposals about political reform and the drafting of the Constitution which included putting people at the center of the election system and the direct election of the prime minister by the people.

The NLA was also asked to make it possible for members of parliament to be free of affiliation with any political party.

In addition, the people of Nan have asked for increased budget distribution at the community level while allowing the people to take part in managing the allocated budget.
