Your all concerned about what? Firearms dont do anything by themselves accept create a deterrent and a great equalizer. It's a proven fact an armed society is a polite society. The more violent cities on the planet are the ones with strongest gun control laws. Undeniable fact.

It's an equalizer all right. Putting the power of life and death in the hands of stupid people. We already tried that with motorised vehicles, and what a success that's been!

Only the insane think that more firearms would increase safety.

Only the ideologically-twisted deny the undeniable fact that many, many crimes of violence have been prevented by firearms in private hands, and that depriving the law-abiding of the means of self-defense whilst the criminals use whatever they want to inflict violence is morally indefensible.

In Thailand, it should be easier for a farang to to have a gun at their own home. There are too many crazy b****ds here who will do anything to get money. M79's and firebombs included (no names mentioned, but you know who you are).

But it should be a criminal offence to take it off your own land without notifying the police - who should also do inspections every month.

Let all foreign nationals purchase firearms. This country would be a much better place. As it stands these criminals know that foreigner can not easily poses guns. So let them buy them freely. Good for the economy and takes the criminals edge away. This is the only way to curb the current trend. The only way......

http://www.thaivibes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Foreignershot.png Really? so you would rather be unable to protect yourself like this guy who was recently shot in the head and died.... I think your the insane one quite frankly.
you ever stop to think what if the bad guy didn't have easy access to guns the good guy might still be alive? A scenario where everyone has open carry would be nightmarish. People would be getting shot for having long hair, or looking at someone's wife, or forgetting to turn off their phone at the movies, or for talking too loud. The relatively few guns we have out there are trouble enough. Try thinking about absolutely everyone having a gun, not just 'responsible' you, and you can see the world would be a war zone 24/7. Apocalyptic, nothing less.

Well, if they really wanted to protect the tourist. They would investigate accidents where people are left in the road to die, after a hit and run. There was a camera at the light just down the street at the light. ( and yes it was working they said) It was a BMW, we have the Mirrow off of it. They wont do anything about it tho. Why would they? they won't make any MONEY investigating it that why. IT may take a real Policeman to do that.

Just stop it. You're giving everyone whose English, and everyone called John, a bad name!

What is a Mirrow? I even had to ignore my phones spell check to ask that. Amazing.

I'm a fierce advocate for target sports shooting BUT I'm NOT positive to letting more guns get out in the street, only people without knowledge would ever think that more guns will create less gun crimes.

How are you thinking here? Let more people have guns is equal to less gun crimes?

The only thing possible is the opposite, put heavy restrictions of having a gun.

What happened to the Bangkok Bomb Crackdown ? there were quieter about that than they are about Paris , Something to do with Tourism perhaps ?

Some Thais are now complaining that people didn't use the Thai flag after the Erawan shrine bombing like the Tricolore (the French flag) is now used on Facebook after this weekends terrorist attacks.

Wow! How about that? Those extra police and troops in the photo are insane, and are causing less safety. I hadn't thought of that.

What about dogs? Do dogs decrease safety?

Which violent cities? Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, Vienna, Berlin, Luxembourg? Maybe I should mention countries instead, Sweden, Island, Denmark, Norway, Holland, Germany, Finland, Greece, Spain, Ireland, Australia, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Portugal and Great Britain are amongst them with stricter gun control laws and even if gun crimes do occur, it's not even close to countries with relaxed gun laws, like USA, Mexico, Thailand, many African countries, Bolivia and many many more.

Only an American would suggest that more guns are the answer to gun crimes, delusional and dangerous.

I strongly believe that it's because the americans are so afraid, even of their own shadow, that makes them want to defend themselves against an enemy they don't know who it is with any means necessary, even if most violent crimes occur in their own house by a family member. THAT IS A FACT presented by your own, US government!

Erm if you speak to your local police I am sure you will find this arrangement is already available, but the monthly inspections are just collections...

One hopes you are not in charge of anything. And I mean anything at all.

Forgive him. He's American and knows no other way.

Yep what a world this would be if we all had guns. Americas gun laws were placed into constitution when most guns took a couple of minutes to load not much chance of a bloodbath then unless you attacked a morgue

Another day another crackdown.

Here is an idea: if everybody was doing their jobs and enforcing rules, regulations and laws there would be no need for crackdowns.

Don't they realize that everytime they announce a crackdown they are shouting, "We don't know what we are doing!" or "We know what we are doing! How do you think we can afford al these nice cars on a civil servants salary?"

Either way, it looks bad. But they obviously don't give a rats arse.

Yes you put it so well. A "Crackdown" implies that normally those responsible for keeping good order are not doing it, so they need to be forced to do their normal job.

A fact. Really? So how come not one single US gun massacre has so far been stopped by law abiding gun toters. Not enough Guns Yet? What happens when one clown has an accidental discharge, and jittery John Waynes all blindly Respond? What you are describing is a world where everyone is armed, so car park disputes would be settled by duels. 1776 or 1863 were a long time ago, time to reboot that thinking.

"gun free zones" ... don't see many mass shootings in Texas or Arizona.... why is that?

"Regarding Thai tourists in Paris in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, Mr Pongpanu said the ministry had contacted the Thai embassy in Paris to look after the tourist numbering a few hundred" really they are going to do that? Myself and my Thai wife were in Saudi at the onset of the first Gulf war. I contacted the Thai Embassy and their reaction was basically that they were not going to do anything. I doubt if things have changed so I wouldnt expectt the Thai Embassy in France to do a thing for the Thai people over there.

The notion of "don't see many mass shootings" so what exactly is "many"? How can one defend "well, we have mass shootings in Arizona, and in Texas, but not many...." ?

Why? Really?? Duh. 'Cause none of the good guys had guns, genius. Amazing what a lot of CNN & MSNBC non-reporting can do.

bad guys always have access to guns if they are bad enough...and I think your nightmarish scenario is a little bit ...exaggerated.

How did this become a gun control debate? I thought we were talking about how the RTP is going to keep us all safe from ourselves..."safe style". The funny thing being that most of the terrible things that the RTP are going to "crackdown" on are things that don't bother most tourists at all.

If you don't like unregistered tour operators, choose "legal ones".

If you don't like unlicensed night spots, don't go there.

If you don't like drug peddlers, don't talk to them.

These things are all simple choices and not matters of safety. We don't need big brother to help us with these simple matters. So while the above nasties are giving people more choice, the RTP want to keep you "safe" by giving you less choice. They must think they are god's gift...
