What I miss the most is dairy. It's expensive and quality is pretty low, supply almost none.

I also miss hazel nuts, wall nuts, plums, pears, apples, some bakery stuff, flour(whole spelt, rye ...), olive oil ...

A bit pricy or hard to find in a small city.

Some western food, goods in shops, might seem a bit expensive here, especially for europeans, because in EU foodstuff is massively subsidized.

For example(central and eastern Europe)

1L of whole milk: 18-20 THB

curd, 250g: 22 THB

1kg gouda cheese, 48%: 145 THB

On the other hand meat and sea food is cheaper.

Key to happiness in Thailand is well equipped kitchen.

Most cravings can be taken care of quite easily in Bangkok but really good bread is nigh on impossible to find.

The goose fat is a really good choice OP....duck and goose fat are really difficult to find in Thailand for some reason.

Not a food, but in my 20's considered it be - Hook Norton Bitter!

I agree with marmite but NZ marmite, its different to English. not much else, I can get NZ meat at Bradmans bar near Soi Cowboy, struggle to find good yoghurt or good stone fruit

Can't find any Branston Pickle here.Great with a cheese sandwich.

While it's not suited for transport to bring to thailand, but if I were in farang land, I would eat lots of Doener Kebab ( Germany ), In & Out Burger ( USA / California ). Yeah yeah, I know....Junk food. But I still like it.

I am quite happy with everything else available here....at times its <deleted> expensive, BUT, it is available.

A Gregg's stottie, lamb's kidney, tripe and smoked haddock to cook in milk.

--> Jonmell - Branstons available in Villa I believe.

Since moving back home since last Christmas, I can say I am enjoying the western food and the Euro, dont miss Thai food, but do i miss the sun and the easy going lifestyle, and the non judgmentally, friendly Thai people.

Yep got that smile.png, thought Makro did it smile.png

Makro in Pattaya do Branston as do Friendship and Foodland - possibly TOPS as well.

This post is a bit of a joke. Equating Western Food with British Food. Who other than a Brit would miss Britisch food such as Branston Pickle?

Well I'm am from the UK, so it's going to be UK biased

Saveloy dips, stotty cake sarnies, Broon Dog

It depends on where you live.

I just bought 2 jars today at Villa in Udon Thani. It is available in any Villa store at 179 thb.

I also went into the Tops supermarket and the same size jar was 209 thb.

Apple and blackberry pie

As a French guy, I miss only one thing : cheese ; I know I can buy some in Makro , but I don't accept to pay 500 bahts or more for a litte piece of cheese

by chance, there is a BIC market near my home, and when their products are almost out of date, they sell them with 50 % discount and Casino cheese is

good even if there is not much choice ( 360 sorts of cheese in France ) ; with a warm baguette, it's ok

That's an ironic post I hope. ;)

There is a very old joke you've probably heard:

Heaven Is Where:
The French are the chefs
The Italians are the lovers
The British are the police
The Germans are the mechanics
And the Swiss make everything run on time
Hell is Where:
The British are the chefs
The Swiss are the lovers
The French are the mechanics
The Italians make everything run on time
And the Germans are the police

Fish and chips. Pretty much anything else I can find or make myself, but I can't set up a chip shop in my kitchen.
