Thailand ready to host the 22nd International Conference on Safe Communities 2015

BANGKOK, 18 November 2015 (NNT) - The government is ready to host the 22nd International Conference on Safe Communities 2015 in Nan province from November 22 – 26.

Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office M.L. Panadda Diskul said the conference will serve as a platform for participants to exchange their views on community safety in regard to their own societies.

Representatives from more than 26 countries will also join the conference. Around 480 communities in 10 provinces in Thailand have begun leaning toward principles of public safety.

Three Thai communities are now officially recognized as safe places to live according to the World Health Organization. Located in Phichit, Nan and Ayutthaya provinces, the three communities are held up as role models for others across Thailand.

M.L. Panadda mentioned the implementation of safety measures for tourists on Loy Krathong Day. He said there will be security officers around Loy Krathong sites to make sure the use of firecrackers and floating lanterns do not endanger the general public.

They should hold it in Pattaya and dare the delegates to walk around with a gold necklace or a Louis Vitton handbag.

Make sure the Witheridges and Millers are invited! I'm sure they would be interested in how safe Thai communities are considering their kids were killed in one by Thais.

With the second highest road deaths in the world, Also 10 million known guns in the hands of civilians. How can anywhere in Thailand be called safe?

Perhaps WHO chose Thailand to host this year's Safe Communities Conference because it exemplifies the exact opposite of safe communities.

The country is a veritable plethora of poor government, widespread corruption at all levels, rampant crime with very poor clear-up rates, unsafe work practices, virtually no consumer protection, the 2^nd most dangerous roads in the world (and footpaths aren’t much safer), questionable medical care, potentially dangerous water quality, no duty of care among civil servants, and (if that’s not bad enough) an apathetic community that meekly accepts all this without question!

Three Thai communities out of 480 communities in 10 provinces are now officially recognized as safe places to live....

Hardly a success for Thai security.
