ChaangNoi
My wife had a ring repaired in the USA on our last visit and it was not done in time to bring back. We now do not have plans to visit the USDA like we thought we would. How much will it cost to import the ring into Thailand? It is made of gold and diamonds. It will be insured for it's value as well. Thanks.

ChaangNoi
Just wear it if possible, Clearly that was the plan but now we can't unless we wait years. Google has not really helped me find the information that I need and I'm not just going to risk it and see what happens.

Cheesekraft
it would be a good gamble to not insure it, as it will be taxed heavily, likely swapped with fake diamonds, or stolen. Make sure you use an insurance that you would get 100% of the value back in such a case and get it tested here after receiving it. blackcab
What's the assessed value of the ring? 20% CIF plus VAT? If it's a nice ring it would be cheaper to buy a discounted ticket in advance and go collect it. Stock up on goodies and bring them back in your cases. It turns out it would be far far cheaper to do this.
