Hookah Cafe

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if starting a hookah cafe is legal in Thailand? I do know there are currently quite a few hookah cafes already in existence but maybe they were grandfathered in or fell through some other loophole.

Also, if it is legal what are the ramifications of importing both the tobacco and the hookah pipes themselves?

If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a phone number or way to reach one of these already existing hookah cafes please pass that information on to me.

Thanks again.

yes, it is legal - as legal as any other business.

pipes should be law custom duty, on tabacco high - however, don't declare it as a tabacco (just dried fruit melasses). Generally custom officers don't bother with them and naghla is in every arab shop in London (all came in suitcases and nobody payed a penny of tax).

In Bangkok there are a lot of them on Soi Sukhumwit 3-1 (the soi between 3 and 5)
